Vic Vatrt Contracting is a water & sewermain construction company based in Welland.
We do municipal contracts throughout the Niagara Region. Our company is structured as a team with all team members working together to get the job done, with Safety as our main focus.
We are a family owned company that started in 1985 with one crew (11 crew members at full employment). Everyone is a vital part of the team helping to get the job done. You will not be a cog in a big machine, that is why we have remained a one crew company because we don’t want to lose that close knit feeling where we all look out for one another.
Requirements
– must have a minimum 7 years experience in water and sewermain construction, pipelaying
– possess the knowledge and expertise to run a water and sewermain crew, to get the job done properly and Safely in a timely manner
– have the knowledge and ability to interpret drawings and plans, utility locates and able to set grade
– have knowledge of the OHSA regulations for construction and MOL requirements
– must always be Safety conscious and have knowledge in filling out a job hazard analysis report and clearly convey those hazards and proper steps to take to the crew
– must be able to work in a busy and stressful worksite while maintaining a safe work site
– must have the knowledge to complete documentation in a timely and proper manner, traffic protection plan, JHA, maintain daily log book properly, timesheets, progress meetings, toolbox talks
– must be able to communicate clearly and respectfully to crew, project owner, inspectors, consultants, sub-trades, public and management
– be able to oversee and communicate on scheduling of sub-trades
– be willing to attend all training required, both in class and eTraining courses
– possess a valid drivers license with a clean abstract
– supply a certificate from the MOL Health and Safety Awareness Program for Supervisors
– supply a whmis certificate
– supply references
Responsibilities and Duties
– manage construction site, ensuring workers adhere to company policies and procedures
– assess the competency and capability of new crew members that they can work safely on the site
– make sure all OHSA & MOL regulations & requirements are followed
– consult blueprints and clarify any changes with project owner, consultant or inspector to complete the job properly and to specifications
– complete all documentation required, such as traffic protection plans, job hazard analysis, toolbox talks, incident reports, daily log book, daily timesheets and any other documentation required
– follow all policy and procedures in the company handbook and maintain on site files in an orderly fashion and up to date
– oversee sub-trades and schedules of job site
– maintain a safe worksite, such as good house keeping procedures
– ensure proper cleanup of completed projects
– perform additional assignments as per managements direction and any other related duties as required to safely and properly complete the project to specifications

Salary: $55,000.00 to $80,000.00 /year
