The Niagara Community Legal Clinic is a busy urban legal clinic seeking a service- focused individual interested in challenging and meaningful work. This position is full-time (5 days per week), at a fast-paced, dynamic organization. Our practice is in poverty law, including tenant law and Ontario Disability Support Program law. Funding for the position is tied to a particular federal grant that is contracted to end on March 31, 2029, but which may end sooner.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Responsibilities:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Reception duties \u2013 making initial contact with clients, visitors and community partners who contact the clinic both in-person or by phone.<\/li>\n<li>Elicit, summarize and record intake information from clients.<\/li>\n<li>Provide basic information regarding clinic services.<\/li>\n<li>Provide appropriate referral information to various community resources.<\/li>\n<li>Providing general administrative support (including faxing, photocopying, opening mail, filing and responding to telephone calls).<\/li>\n<li>Prepping case files for closing (drafting closing letter), closing case files and opening case files as directed by legal staff and the Office Manager.<\/li>\n<li>Providing administrative support to the Office Manager and Legal Staff as required.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Preferred Skills and Experience:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Related post-secondary diploma or demonstrated client service experience.<\/li>\n<li>Ability to work effectively as part of a team and to take direction.<\/li>\n<li>Ability to work in a friendly and cooperative manner with colleagues.<\/li>\n<li>Flexibility and ability to manage competing priorities and multi-task.<\/li>\n<li>Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.<\/li>\n<li>Excellent computer skills (experience with Windows and Microsoft Office).<\/li>\n<li>Ability to work in French and\/or other languages an asset.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Compensation:<\/strong> Pursuant to the administrative professional column on the pay grid in the NCLC collective agreement: Starting salary: $51,140.46 per annum, including a generous health benefit plan and an RSP program.<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Please send your resume and cover letter by Friday March 21st to: <\/u><\/strong>Evelyn Taylor, Office Manager\/Administrative Supervisor at <a href=\"mailto:evelyn.taylor@niagaraclc.clcj.ca\">evelyn.taylor@niagaraclc.clcj.ca<\/a> and copy to <a href=\"mailto:aidan.johnson@niagaraclc.clcj.ca\">aidan.johnson@niagaraclc.clcj.ca<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Niagara Community Legal Clinic is an equal opportunity employer and welcomes applications from those with lived experience of oppression.
