{"id":172046,"date":"2025-04-17T14:24:15","date_gmt":"2025-04-17T18:24:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.jobgym.com\/jobboard\/?post_type=job_listing&#038;p=172046"},"modified":"2025-04-25T00:35:11","modified_gmt":"2025-04-25T04:35:11","slug":"mental-health-and-addictions-worker","status":"expired","type":"job_listing","link":"https:\/\/www.jobgym.com\/jobboard\/?post_type=job_listing&p=172046","title":{"rendered":"Mental Health and Addictions Worker"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3>Gateway Residential and Community Support Services of Niagara<\/h3>\n<h4>Mental Health and Addictions Worker<\/h4>\n<p><strong>Vacancies:<\/strong> 1<\/p>\n<p><strong>Wage:<\/strong> $28.10-$32.68<\/p>\n<p><strong>Hours per week:<\/strong> 35<\/p>\n<p><strong>Employment Terms:<\/strong> Contract<\/p>\n<p><strong>Requirements<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Bachelor\u2019s degree in social work (BSW) and Registered Social Work (RSW) is an asset.<\/li>\n<li>College diploma social work with 10 years\u2019 experience in mental health or addictions.<\/li>\n<li>A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in mental health or addictions.<\/li>\n<li>Broad experience with individual, family, and systems advocacy, supportive counseling, crisis prevention and intervention experience.<\/li>\n<li>Experience in providing support around housing and\/or homelessness.<\/li>\n<li>Experience supporting individuals suffering from mental illness resulting in hoarding behaviors.<\/li>\n<li>Sound understanding of the population demographics and relevant legislation.<\/li>\n<li>Experience or certification in CBT and DBT would be an asset.<\/li>\n<li>Suicide Prevention Certification would be an asset.<\/li>\n<li>A valid G driver&#8217;s license, regular access to a reliable vehicle, and permission to carry rider attached with $2 million dollar liability.<\/li>\n<li>Valid First Aid\/CPR Certificate.<\/li>\n<li>Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Training is an asset.<\/li>\n<li>Bi-lingual in both French and English is an asset.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Job Responsibilities<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Attend all Situation Table Meetings and engage in multi-agency case discussions, sharing insights and recommendations to address the root causes of the individual\u2019s distress.<\/li>\n<li>Collaborate with a multi-agency team to assess and coordinate intervention plans for individuals experiencing severe or persistent mental illness, addictions, struggling with concurrent disorders or have dual diagnosis.<\/li>\n<li>De-escalating crises related to mental health, addiction, or concerns through immediate outreach, stabilization and connection to treatment.<\/li>\n<li>Ongoing collaboration with peer support from partnering agencies to foster a rapport of dignity and respect.<\/li>\n<li>Ongoing collaboration with Niagara Assertive Street Outreach to support complex cases with respect to unsheltered homelessness or risk of homelessness.<\/li>\n<li>Skills in multiple evidence-based treatment modalities to allow for a person centered approach e.g., CBT and DBT coaching skills.<\/li>\n<li>Tailor treatment to set up clients for success while awaiting access to treatment in community.<\/li>\n<li>Mitigate risk for clients while they await treatment in the community.<\/li>\n<li>Implement suicide prevention strategies, including safety planning, risk assessments, and crisis interventions.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Job Duties<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Conduct comprehensive assessments to determine specific needs of client (OCANs and SPDATS).<\/li>\n<li>Maintain accurate, confidential, and up-to-date records of client interactions, progress, and case plans to CRMS\/HIFIS.<\/li>\n<li>Manage an intensive caseload of individuals of 1:15 who are brought forth through the Situation Table.<\/li>\n<li>Support clients referred to through Niagara Assertive Street Outreach or other centralized intake lines.<\/li>\n<li>Ensure care plans are dynamic and adaptable as an individual\u2019s situation evolves.<\/li>\n<li>Attend regular meetings as required by the clinical supervisor or program manager.<\/li>\n<li>Take ongoing training and skills development as offered by Gateway.<\/li>\n<li>Maintain confidentiality in accordance with current legislation.<\/li>\n<li>Maintain certifications and designations as required.<\/li>\n<li>Knowledge of and sensitivity to issues of gender, race, sexual orientation, and multi-cultural issues is required.<\/li>\n<li>Respects and protects the rights of clients, including but not limited to the right to independence, autonomy, and self determination; their right to choose and practice individual values, beliefs, religion, and culture.<\/li>\n<li>Provide crisis intervention as needed.<\/li>\n<li>Provide motivational interviews to support client needs.<\/li>\n<li>Performs other related duties as required.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><em>This position description reflects the general duties of the position, but it is not intended to be a detailed description of all duties that may be inherent in the position.
