hours bi-weekly<\/p>\n<p><strong>Type of Work:<\/strong> Part-Time, Permanent<\/p>\n<p><strong>Requirements<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>College Diploma (Social Service Worker Diploma, Developmental Services Worker Diploma, Educational Assistant Diploma, Community and Developmental Service Worker Diploma) or university degree (Bachelor of Applied Science in Community Social Services or related degree)<\/li>\n<li>Minimum one year working with individuals with developmental disabilities or minimum one year working in a related field<\/li>\n<li>Must have a valid G Driver\u2019s License and a reliable vehicle<\/li>\n<li>Must have access to your own reliable vehicle while working with the expectation to transport people<\/li>\n<li>Must have auto insurance with $1,000,000 liability coverage and permission to carry non-paying passengers<\/li>\n<li>Must have a police clearance (with vulnerable sector screening)<\/li>\n<li>Must have a valid First Aid\/CPR Certification<\/li>\n<li>Be able to lift up to 30 lbs. unassisted<\/li>\n<li>Be available to work one weekend per pay period if required<\/li>\n<li>Training in Person Centred Thinking is an asset<\/li>\n<li>Training in Non-Violent Crisis Intervention is an asset<\/li>\n<li>Bi-lingual in both French and English is an asset<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Duties<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Providing education about the Passport Program; linking to services and supports<\/li>\n<li>Working positively and proactively with clients and their families<\/li>\n<li>Communicating with supported individuals and their families to provide support in using Passport funds to meet the individual\u2019s goals<\/li>\n<li>Providing information, support and resources to enable the individual to actively participate in decision making and self-advocacy<\/li>\n<li>Providing transportation for clients, using either your personal or agency vehicle, and accompanying them to appointments, activities, shopping, and other essential destinations<\/li>\n<li>Facilitating participation in community, recreational, social, and employment activities<\/li>\n<li>Developing trusting and positive relationships with the person supported and their families<\/li>\n<li>Maintaining records of activities, progress, and expenses from outings<\/li>\n<li>Advocating for inclusion, accessibility, and self-advocacy<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Role Expectations<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Respect and adhere to Mainstream\u2019s policies surrounding confidentiality<\/li>\n<li>The DSP exercises autonomy in the planning and implementation of the daily activities and appointments for the people we support<\/li>\n<li>When challenges develop, it is the responsibility of the DSP to reach out to Team supervisor or Team Manager for additional support as needed<\/li>\n<li>Be familiar with Mainstream policies and procedures, always conduct yourself in a manner consistent with Mainstream philosophies<\/li>\n<li>Be an active part of the team whose primary goal is that of promoting Mainstream philosophies in ways that positively impact people supported, fellow staff members and the community<\/li>\n<li>By manner of communication, show respect and consideration for fellow co-workers, a positive attitude and strong work ethic towards responsibilities<\/li>\n<li>Use effective time management strategies in completing tasks and planning daily activities<\/li>\n<li>Contribute to team meetings, projects, and initiatives<\/li>\n<li>Recognize that relationships developed with people supported are always subject to professional codes of conduct<\/li>\n<li>Communicate and collaborate professionally with others within the team, the organization, families and community partners<\/li>\n<li>Comply with health and safety policies,
