\nSchedule:<\/strong> 3 shift rotation (DAM) weekly

We are seeking a reliable and hardworking Assistant Furnace Operators to join our team. This position involves performing a variety of physical tasks to support our operations, assist both Furnace and Crane Operators ensuring a safe and efficient work environment.<\/p>\n

Responsibilities<\/strong><\/h3>\n
    \n
  • Assisting with the loading and unloading of materials<\/li>\n
  • Performing general site housekeeping in the pour station area including behind ladle pour stand and decks surrounding the atomization area<\/li>\n
  • Maintain required inventory including restock of carbon, ferro silica into designated areas<\/li>\n
  • Work closely with Crane and Furnace Operators in addition to shift supervisors to support performance within the shift<\/li>\n
  • Following instructions, procedures, processes and all health and safety procedures including proper wear of all PPE<\/li>\n
  • Working as part of a team to complete tasks efficiently<\/li>\n
  • Monitor and control the flow of molten metal through the tundish channels<\/li>\n
  • Accomplish tasks in a manner which minimizes delay times but performed in accordance with approved safety rules and guidelines<\/li>\n
  • Store all tools, equipment and supplies away in their designated areas<\/li>\n
  • Assist in trials to reduce operating costs<\/li>\n
  • All other duties assigned by leadership or designate<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Job Requirements<\/strong><\/h3>\n
      \n
    • Must be able to understand electrical control panels, water and hydraulic circuits, and the sequences involved in the startup and shut down of associatedequipment<\/li>\n
    • Must have minimal mechanical skills<\/li>\n
    • Must be able to work with hand and pneumatic tools<\/li>\n
    • Comprehension and ability to complete required reporting documents prior to end of each shift<\/li>\n
    • Must be able to operate a forklift truck, crane and propane filing process (ability to be trained within a timely manner)<\/li>\n
    • Basic math skills<\/li>\n
    • Ability to follow instructions and work independently or as part of a team<\/li>\n
    • Strong work ethic and reliability<\/li>\n
    • Experience with hand and power tools is an asset<\/li>\n
    • Safety-conscious attitude<\/li>\n
    • Must be able to work in Canada<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      Education<\/strong><\/h3>\n
        \n
      • Completion of Secondary High School Diploma\/GED equivalent<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

        Physical Requirements<\/strong><\/h3>\n
          \n
        • \u00a0Ability to withstand cold weather and high heat\/humidity working conditions and the odours associated with the steel making process<\/li>\n
        • Ability to work scheduled shift work including weekend and OT when necessary<\/li>\n
        • Ability to work at a minimum elevated height of 15 feet about ground<\/li>\n
        • Ability to climb ladders\/stairs and traverse the grounds<\/li>\n
        • Ability to lift fifty (50) lbs<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
