As an autonomous Chapter of the Ontario Native Women\u2019s Association, we are a registered non profit charity that is proudly Indigenous governed and operated, serving Indigenous women and families throughout the Niagara Region.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What We Offer:<\/strong><br \/>\nWe offer full-time employment, a comprehensive benefits package following a 90-day probationary period, a generous personal day allotment, two paid weeks off during the winter break, and two weeks of paid vacation after one year of service. Most importantly, you&#8217;ll have the opportunity to work alongside a close knit, passionate team of women who are dedicated to making a positive impact in our community!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Outline of Services to be provided:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The Ska-Be program will support improved health and well-being for urban Indigenous adults, helping them achieve a strong quality of life grounded in their cultural identity and individual needs.<\/li>\n<li>The program focuses on adults, with particular attention to Elder women, and takes an intersectional, wrap-around approach to supporting mental health, chronic illness, disability, and other complex health needs.<\/li>\n<li>This program uses a culturally based, holistic wellness approach within a wrap-around circle of care.<\/li>\n<li>This program will complement existing services the individual is already accessing and help them to become aware of additional community services that may be of benefit. By placing a high priority on culture, tradition and identity, the program will offer quality services and culturally safe care.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Those Served Are:<\/strong> First Nations, M\u00e9tis, Inuit, Status and Non-Status urban Indigenous people and those needing support with chronic illness, disease, mental health issues, or disabilities.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Anticipated Program Outcomes:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Indigenous adults with disabilities participating in cultural activities and practices to a greater extent, such as access to Elders and traditional Healers, sharing\/healing circles, and ceremony.<\/li>\n<li>Indigenous adults with disabilities have increased knowledge of and access to services in their community.<\/li>\n<li>Indigenous adults with disabilities are more able to stay in their own homes.<\/li>\n<li>Indigenous adults with disabilities have quality supports available through the program with a positive impact on the quality of their life.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>QUALITIFICATIONS:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Post-secondary certificate \/diploma\/degree in Geriatrics, Personal Support Worker, Health Sciences or Social Service Worker, Indigenous Studies<\/li>\n<li>Personal Support Worker Certificate (or other caregiver certification will be considered)<\/li>\n<li>Minimum 2 years of care giving experience with geriatrics, long-term care or home services required.<\/li>\n<li>Strong knowledge of the principles, practices and methods of community nursing and the delivery of personal care services to clients.<\/li>\n<li>Certified in Level 1 First Aid, CPR\/AED<\/li>\n<li>Able to stand, bend, squat, kneel and reach freely.<\/li>\n<li>Able to freely lift up to fifty (50) pounds.<\/li>\n<li>Able to assist clients with standing, walking, sitting, grooming, cooking, attending appointments etc.<\/li>\n<li>Able to cook healthy meals as well as perform light cleaning duties.<\/li>\n<li>Demonstrated experience operating related equipment.<\/li>\n<li>Excellent oral and written communication<\/li>\n<li>Strong organizational and time management skills<\/li>\n<li>Experience working on a collaborative team.<\/li>\n<li>Able to manage many conflicting priorities simultaneously, with the ability to prioritize.<\/li>\n<li>Strong connections with other social service providers within the community<\/li>\n<li>Knowledge of not-for-profit Indigenous organizations<\/li>\n<li>Knowledge of Indigenous culture, traditions, ceremony and connecting clients to cultural services<\/li>\n<li>Ability to work flexible hours as needed to provide ongoing support and services to clients.<\/li>\n<li>Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision.<\/li>\n<li>Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other computer software<\/li>\n<li>Criminal Reference Clearance (CPIC) and Vulnerable Sector Clearance are requirements of the employment offer.<\/li>\n<li>Valid driver\u2019s license and access to a reliable vehicle with minimum 2 million liability insurance as required.<\/li>\n<li>Must be available to start immediately.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><em><strong>NOTE:<\/strong> <\/em>This job description is not intended to be all-inclusive.
