\nFort Erie Native Friendship Centre<\/p>\n

Type of Work:<\/strong> Part-time<\/p>\n

Hours of Work:<\/strong> Tuesday to Thursday 9:00am-5:00pm (Summer Hours: 8:00am-4:00pm)
\n24 hour flexible work week<\/p>\n

Salary:<\/strong> $21.86 per hour<\/p>\n

Start Date:<\/strong> Immediate or as soon as mutually agreed upon<\/p>\n

Indigenous Homeward Bound Fort Erie (IHBFE) supports sole-parenting Indigenous women in overcoming barriers to meaningful employment, improved well-being, and lasting prosperity. Through safe housing, access to culture, quality childcare, education, life skills, reliable transportation, and coordinated case management, we provide comprehensive, culturally grounded support. In this role, you will work collaboratively to empower participants to achieve their goals, from completing post-secondary education to securing sustainable, career-track employment.<\/p>\n

Qualification & Requirements<\/strong>
\nA 2-year College Diploma in Social Service Work, or a related field.
\nPrevious experience in a similar role is an asset.
\nMust have or be able to obtain a satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Criminal Record Check (CPIC).
\nMust hold a valid Ontario Class G driver\u2019s license with a clean driver\u2019s abstract.<\/p>\n

Primary Responsibilities<\/strong>
\nRecruit and maintain relationships with landlords and local housing providers.
\nMaintain a current list of available housing units in conjunction with Regional Homelessness Prevention services.
\nAssessment of housing and support needs of people referred to the Fort Erie Native Friendship Centre.
\nAssist and liaise with other services and support needed to secure housing.
\nPeriodic unit inspection to ensure health and safety conditions are being kept.<\/p>\n

Knowledge & Skills<\/strong>
\nStrong understanding of Traditional Cultural knowledge and the ability to apply it when supporting community members, using an Indigenous perspective alongside awareness of western approaches.
\nKnowledge of the Residential Tenancy Act and supportive housing.
\nKnowledge of the criminal justice system, concurrent disorders and issues affecting the homeless.
\nKnowledge of the Ontario Support Disability Program and Ontario Works.
\nFamiliarity with homeless outreach initiatives and the shelter system.
\nStrong interpersonal skills, including conflict resolution and trauma-informed support.
\nStrong organizational skills, including planning, meeting deadlines, and working well both independently and as part of a team.
\nProficiency in computer use and digital tools for programming materials and marketing.
\nKnowledge of the Fort Erie Native Friendship Centre, as well as surrounding Indigenous and non-Indigenous organizations, to help connect community members, youth, and families with appropriate supports.<\/p>\n
