Position Summary<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

The Support Worker provides assistance to individuals so they can maintain a quality of life based on their needs while ensuring overall care, health, welfare, safety and happiness of every child being supported.<\/p>\n

Location:<\/strong> Niagara Falls, ON<\/p>\n

Department:<\/strong> Regional Respite Program<\/p>\n

Rate of Pay (CAD):<\/strong> $24.20 per hour<\/p>\n

Position Type:<\/strong> Replacement<\/p>\n

Accountability<\/span><\/h5>\n

This position reports directly to the Supervisor, Children\u2019s Services
\nHours of Work: Shift work and weekends are required<\/p>\n

Corporate Responsibilities<\/h5>\n

\u2022 Fosters positive and constructive interpersonal relationships with the Board of Directors, staff, volunteers, and clients, visitors, outside agencies, government officials and related professional
\nassociations.
\n\u2022 Maintains and adheres to all relevant legislation.
\n\u2022 Maintains and adheres to organizational policies and procedures.
\n\u2022 Abides by all Occupational Health and Safety Policies.
\n\u2022 Demonstrates practices which are consistent with the guiding principles of the Agency.<\/p>\n

Job Responsibilities<\/strong><\/span><\/h5>\n

Supports to Individuals<\/strong>
\n\u2022 Supervise and support the individuals in such areas as recreation and leisure activities.
\n\u2022 Supervise and support individuals in the development of life and social skills, such as personal hygiene, nutrition, outings, etc., as they may require.
\n\u2022 Provide emotional support for each individual as needed.
\n\u2022 Administer medication and ensure proper storage of medication to ensure safety.
\n\u2022 Tasks may include general household cleaning and minor home maintenance.
\n\u2022 Preparation of nutritious meals, as according to Canada\u2019s Food Guide.<\/p>\n

Administration and Finance<\/strong>
\n\u2022 Write reports or assist with assessments, including data collection.
\n\u2022 Ensure information is handled in compliance with confidentiality guidelines of the agency and the Ministry of Community and Social Services.
\n\u2022 May be responsible for arranging funds for outings and handling petty cash.<\/p>\n

Training and Professional Development<\/strong>
\n\u2022 Update skills regularly as required.
\n\u2022 Attend conferences, trainings, and staff meetings as required.<\/p>\n

Health and Safety<\/strong>
\n\u2022 Follow agency policies, rules and regulations regarding health and safety, housekeeping, safety, security, and equipment.
\n\u2022 Immediately report any workplace accidents\/incidents to the supervisor\/designate and complete the required paperwork.
\n\u2022 Immediately report any problems or hazards and\/or unsafe work conditions.
\n\u2022 Personally conduct yourself in a manner that promotes safe conditions and actions.<\/p>\n

Qualifications<\/strong><\/span><\/h5>\n

\u2022 Related college diploma (DSS or DSW, EA-SNS, Social Service Worker, Child & Youth Worker) or post-secondary equivalent.
\n\u2022 Minimum of six (6) months experience working with children with special needs.
\n\u2022 Behavior management training an asset.
\n\u2022 Good oral and written communication skills.
\n\u2022 Demonstrated problem-solving skills.
\n\u2022 Knowledge of both official languages an asset.
\n\u2022 Current Standard First Aid Certification and CPR (or willingness to obtain).
\n\u2022 Current Nonviolent Crisis Intervention Training – NVCI (or willingness to obtain).
\n\u2022 Valid class G driver\u2019s license (willing to use own vehicle).
\n\u2022 Proven ability to work as a team member, as well as independently.
\n\u2022 Satisfactory Criminal Reference Check and Vulnerable Persons Screening Check.<\/p>\n
