Responsibilities<\/strong><\/b><\/p>\n<ol style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\n<li>Use a sign and hand signals to safely escort pedestrians across the street by identifying gaps in traffic and stopping traffic as necessary.<\/li>\n<li>Signal vehicles to resume normal traffic flow.<\/li>\n<li>Accurately record the name and\/or description of offending individuals and\/or vehicles and\/or license plate numbers and report the information to the supervisor.<\/li>\n<li>Report unsafe behaviour on the part of pedestrians to the supervisor.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><b><strong>Education &amp; Experience<\/strong><\/b><\/p>\n<ul style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\n<li>OSSD or equivalent or documented experience considered equivalent by The Corporation<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><b><strong>Knowledge<\/strong><\/b><\/p>\n<ul style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\n<li>Knowledge of the\u00a0Highway Traffic Act, regulations, standards<\/li>\n<li>Knowledge of Town policies and procedures<\/li>\n<li>Knowledge of safe school crossing signs, signals and techniques<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><b><strong>Skills &amp; Ability<\/strong><\/b><\/p>\n<ul style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\n<li>Ability to clearly and effectively communicate information\/instructions verbally and using a sign and hand signals<\/li>\n<li>Ability to read, interpret and apply relevant legislation, standards, practices and procedures<\/li>\n<li>Ability to regularly report to assigned crossing on time, several times daily<\/li>\n<li>Good interpersonal skills; helpful, courteous and professional<\/li>\n<li>Concern for image<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><b><strong>Work Demands<\/strong><\/b><\/p>\n<ul style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\n<li>Must report to assigned crossing on-time<\/li>\n<li>Work day is scheduled in split shifts<\/li>\n<li>Work is performed outdoors, in all weather conditions<\/li>\n<li>Exposure to vehicular traffic<\/li>\n<li>Job requires a police clearance certificate satisfactory to The Corporation<\/li>\n<li>Job requires satisfactory fitness assessment by a medical practitioner<\/li>\n<li>Job requires sufficient hearing and vision to ensure the safety of pedestrians and vehicle operators<\/li>\n<li>Almost continuous standing and\/or walking;
