Full-Time Land Animal Care Supervisor (1 Position)
Job Description
- Marineland of Canada Inc. is currently seeking a Land Animal Care Supervisor who will be responsible for the smooth running of the Land Animal Care Department on a day to day basis. The ideal candidate will have more than 5 years of experience in a similar role; be responsible for the safety and care of all land animals at Marineland.
Position Requirements
Essential Skills and Knowledge:
- Knowledge of farming practices and farm land maintenance for the daily care and handling of animals; including distribution of feed and hay, watering, order of feed and hay, inoculation and tagging of new born animals, monitor and log the health of each animal, report to or request vet to visit if necessary, monitor all compound fences for areas of concern that may cause harm to animals or that need repair, maintain feed inventory ensuring it is stored correctly, ensure animal compounds and housing are cleaned, etc.
- Knowledge of farm equipment including driving tractors.
- Knowledge of supervisory skills an asset; including scheduling, motivation, coaching and counselling skills are an asset.
- Knowledge of safety hazards and necessary safety precautions and assures a safe working environment.
- Ability to make decisions, and understand when to take appropriate action
- Understanding of WHMIS, Animal Care and other Health & Safety regulations pertaining to the Land Animal Care.
- Ability to interact with various outside agencies on behalf of the park when required or directed to do so.
- Work with enthusiasm and energy maintaining confidentiality and concentration while working under a variety of pressures and extremes of weather conditions.
- This position involves physical work for the length of the shift, must be able to walk, stand or lift for the entire shift.
- Must have a valid and clean Full G Driver’s License.
- Ability to support a 7-day a week operation is expected.
