Contract Summer Student Maintenance and Renovations Assistant (1 Position)
Job Description
Job Summary:
Under the direct supervision of the Property Manager, the incumbent would be responsible to assist in the maintenance services for all of our facilities and residences. This will include hands-on repairs and general maintenance for our residential group homes and day program facility. It will also include, but not limited to: painting and staining; deck repairs; drywall repair; minor plumbing; flooring installation and repair; finishing trim; general property clean-up; and special construction projects as required. The successful candidate must be self-motivated. The incumbent will be supplied basic hand tools and will be required to drive company vehicle (if applicable). We are seeking one Summer Student to work June-August and the position is funded through the Canada Summer Jobs Grant.
Qualifications:
- Between 15 and 30 years of age (inclusive) at the start of employment
- Is a Canadian Citizen, permanent resident, or person on whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act
- Legally entitled to work according to provincial legislation and regulations
Interest in Carpentry, Renovation Technician/Techniques, Construction, Mechanical, Landscaping, General Machinist Pre-Apprenticeship, etc.
Other Requirements:
- CSA Approved Safety Footwear
- Satisfactory Police Clearance (18 years and older)
- MOL Workers Health & Safety Awareness Certificate
- AODA Certificate
- Valid ‘G’ Driver’s License with $1 Million Personal Vehicle Liability Insurance (an asset)
- Driver’s Abstract (if applicable)
- First Aid and CPR (an asset)
Salary: $16 per hour, 35 hours per week, 10 weeks total
