Summary of Duties

 

Under the direction of the Area Superintendent, ensuring the safety of patrons through regular and attentive supervision of the waterfront (Lake Niapenco) at Binbrook Conservation Area. The incumbent may also be responsible for Park Attendant duties including performance of gatehouse, security, program delivery and general maintenance activities as assigned.   Duties may include processing gatehouse cash receipts through issuing use permits, daily cash handling oversight and accounts reports/reconciliations, providing park security oversight, reporting issues to the Superintendent as they occur, deliver recreational and other programming as needed, and perform general facility/property maintenance by safely operating and ensuring routine service maintenance for the equipment used in these activities as required.

 

The incumbent is responsible for providing excellent customer service to the customers/patrons, and ensuring the safe condition of the conservation area.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

 

  • Supervise waterfront locations to ensure the safety of patrons
  • Implement proper rescue and emergency procedures for those in difficulty, danger, or who may be injured
  • Communicate effectively and courteously with visitors, promoting good public relations and an enjoyable customer experience.
  • Communicate with participants in regards to lesson opportunities and accident prevention
  • Administrative duties including incident reports and appropriate follow up actions
  • Understand, adhere to, and enforce Policies and Procedures as well as Health & Safety standards for all patrons
  • Operate cash register, issue use permits and ensure proper cash handling procedures
  • Perform routine inspection of facilities and grounds to ensure security
  • Maintain cleanliness of the park and facilities
  • Assist in the construction, restoration and maintenance of Conservation area trails and facilities
  • Safely performs landscaping and minor building maintenance

 

Qualifications

 

  • Grade 12 diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 1 year lifeguarding experience (waterfront experience an asset)
  • Valid National Lifeguard Service Certification
  • Valid CPR & First Aid
  • Strong customer service skills with the ability to resolve challenging customer situations
  • Successful applicants will be required to complete a satisfactory Criminal Records Check
