Wage: $25.00/hr

Hours of Work: Mon-Fri 7:30am to 4:00pm + overtime as necessary

Requirements:

• Minimum 3 years’ greenhouse experience in a growing-related capacity;
• Post-secondary diploma in Horticulture or a related field;
• Prior knowledge/experience with greenhouse environmental controls preferred;
• Flexibility to work overtime hours as necessary during peak periods;
• Grower Pesticide Safety Certification (or willing to obtain).

Duties:

• Execute crop program from start to harvest for assigned crop(s), ensuring crops are produced on time and within pest tolerances, as per crop schedule;
• Perform daily walk through of assigned greenhouse section to monitor crop and environmental controls, identify issues and make decisions on irrigation, fertilization, pesticides, biological agents, growth regulators, etc.
• Communicate regularly with Director, Operations and harvest, production and sales team members to provide information re: crop scheduling, progress against finish target dates and any variances;
• Communicate required movement activities (spacing, harvesting, etc.) to Plant Manager to determine labour requirements;
• Direct workers to perform spacing and crop movement activities
• Maintain accurate records of crop activities, inputs, and conditions;
• Collaborate with Growing team members and external consultants to identify, troubleshoot and correct growing issues;
• Ensure growing activities are carried out in accordance with all relevant regulations (Ministry of Environment, Ministry of Labour, CFIA, etc.);
• Implement integrated pest management (IPM) strategies, applying biological or chemical controls as directed;
• Perform growing-related tasks in Microsoft Business Central (MSBC) accurately and promptly (updating growth phases, ready dates, recording crop/quality waste, etc.)
• Maintain Argus climate controls and ensure sensor calibration, conforming to desired crop environment conditions and Argus control procedures;
• Support Inventory team with weekly and monthly lives goods/finished goods inventory counts as required;
• Maintain all required documentation for internal and regulatory purposes, as determined by the Head Grower
