Court Support Coordinator

 

Wage: $45, 000 per year, including benefits

Hours of Work: 40 hours per week, including paid lunch hour

Position Summary:

  • The Indigenous Intimate Partner Violence Court Support Coordinator will help indigenous families that are affected by intimate partner violence by helping individuals involved in court for pre and post sentencing matters. Work with the Indigenous Community Justice Program and the Court worker the Coordinator will help prioritize programming and supports to help revolve matters for court involved individuals. Liaise between criminal court worker and accused offender and victim to provide intervention, supports and a plan that navigates the complexities of Indigenous Intimate Partner Violence. Know of indigenous community and history is crucial to supporting the Friendship Centre movement.

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor of Social Work Diploma or related field of study.
  2. Relevant work experience with the criminal justice system in a similar capacity or other related helping fields.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  1. Knowledge and work-related experience with the criminal justice system.
  2. Knowledge of social barriers and challenges faced by urban indigenous people.
  3. Highly skilled in developing relationships with agencies and court workers.
  4. Time management skills with the ability to prioritize a high volume of work.
  5. Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
  6. Excellent computer skills in MS Office.
  7. Experience or ability to complete Database reporting requirements.
  8. Ability to navigate barriers for individuals leading to them becoming court involved.
  9. Support plans of care and objectives for healing.
  10. Facilitate programming as needed to address underlying factors leading to court involvement
  11. Ability to provide administrative support as needed to Indigenous Community Justice program

Requirements:

  1. Copy of driver license, insurance and driver’s abstract, upon employment
  2. Must be able to provide a clear CPIC – Vulnerable Sector, upon employment
  3. Copy of Diploma and related training certificates, upon employment
