Hours of Work: Monday-Friday 7am-4pm; occasional overtime offered but not required

Wage: $22.00 – $24.00 per hour, based on experience

VRE Systems is a manufacturing company providing products and services to the retail garden centre, horticultural, greenhouse and agricultural industries. We manufacture products such as various types of curtain systems, roll up walls, monorail systems, fabrics, transportation carts, as well as food and pharmaceutical products.

We are seeking a Full-time Industrial Sewing Machine Operator to join the team. The ideal candidate is able to operate an industrial sewing machine, meet product assembly standards, great attention to detail, and has a strong work ethic, reliable, with a positive attitude.

Responsibilities:

  • Operate industrial sewing machine/Grommet machine
  • Sew, mark and cut materials according to VRE specifications drawings and/or Production Supervisor direction
  • Complete vinyl welding orders using a RD welding machine and/or hot air welder
  • Roll, fold package and label materials and products up to 50lbs
  • Effectively and safely follow all operating procedures, direction from Supervisor(s) and Health & Safety policies
  • Quality control: inspection of materials and products, identifying errors, defects and fine details
  • Work collaboratively within a team to complete task and projects assigned
  • Maintain a clean and organized workstation/environment
  • Assist other VRE departments as requested
  • Work in compliance with all applicable Health and Safety, workplace, and WHMIS requirements
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support efficient company operations
  • Duties and responsibilities may be amended from time to time to meet changing operational requirements

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent education or experience
  • Strong understanding of both Imperial and Metric measurements; ability to accurately use measuring tools
  • Ability to read, understand, and work from VRE specification drawings
  • Ability to safely operate industrial sewing equipment and other production machinery required for the position; to safely use a variety of hand and power tools, including drills and saws
  • Effective communicator; verbally and in writing
  • Ability to interact with others sensitively, tactfully, diplomatically, and professionally
  • Ability to prioritize work and manage competing production demands; to adapt and respond effectively in a dynamic and changing production environment
  • Ability to work independently and cooperatively as part of a team
  • Previous industrial sewing experience is preferred
  • Strong attention to detail, math & problem-solving skills, organized individual

Additional Information

  • This person may occasionally need to lift up to 50lbs
  • Physically capable: sit/stand for long periods and lift up to 50lbs
  • Repetitive movements associated with sewing, cutting, welding, and material handling
  • We are an industrial and manufacturing work setting, must be able to effectively work in a loud and busy setting with frequent interruptions
  • Team environment fostering a culture of inclusiveness and acceptance
  • Personal protective equipment must be worn as required

Transportation/Travel Information

  • We are in Grassie, ON, near Grimsby, however public transportation does NOT come to our location, requiring employees to have their own transportation.
