Meat Department Supervisor

Westridge HR, on behalf of our client located in the Toronto area, is currently seeking a Meat Department Supervisor.

Our client is a well established wholesale retailer with a reputation for exceptional quality, value, and customer service.  They serve a wide variety of  clients from the Toronto and surrounding areas and have become the backbone of many local restaurants, caterers, and food retailers.

As the Meat Department Supervisor, you will have the opportunity to assist with supporting operations of the on-site meat department and contributing to the expansion of this growing sector of the business. In this role, you will assist with merchandising, procurement, pricing, and providing exceptional customer service.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain the overall appearance of the on-site meat department;
  • Ensure cases are well-merchandised and properly signed to showcase quality;
  • Oversee receiving and ensure all receiving details run smoothly;
  • Weigh, price, and packaging meat for customers, while going above and beyond to accommodate special requests;
  • Meet or exceed Company guidelines regarding hygiene, presentation; and
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures including all regulations surrounding food.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of three (3) years experience in a retail meat department setting;
  • Experience as a meat cutter preferred;
  • Exceptional customer service skills, ability to network and build external relationships with new customers;
  • Previous merchandising experience;
  • General knowledge of how to prepare and cook cuts of meat;
  • Supervisory experience with a positive and team focused attitude;
  • Knowledge of health regulations and food safe handling procedures;
  • Must be able to lift thirty (30) pounds;
  • Ability to remain professional is all circumstances;
  • Ability to be organized and to set priorities while meeting deadlines and managing interruptions; and
  • Able to work weekends (Saturday and Sunday).

Compensation:

  • Commensurate with experience.
