Part-Time Funeral Assistant (1 Position)

Job Description

We are currently hiring a part time Funeral Assistant at the James L. Pedlar Funeral Homes in Fonthill, Ontario.

For us, there is no greater responsibility than celebrating each life and making a difference in the lives of people we serve.

The Assistant will be expected to set-up and assist with viewings, funeral services, memorial services as well as maintenance of the funeral home, both inside and out.

Specific Duties:

  • Performs a variety of tasks during funerals and visitations
  • Directs calls to appropriate team members
  • Greets and receives client families and/or other persons entering the funeral home for information and assistance
  • Maintains a friendly and polite attitude while offering assistance
  • Assists the Funeral Director in transfers from place of death back to the funeral home
  • The movement of chairs, caskets, urns and floral arrangements
  • Cleaning tasks such as vacuuming, dusting and ensuring bathrooms are kept in order
  • Duties outside may involve light snow clearing in the winter and light cleaning and maintenance of property

 

Position Requirements:

  • Polished and professional demeanour
  • Strong interpersonal and empathy skills
  • Experienced working as a close team and possess flexibility to pick up tasks to cover fellow colleagues
  • Clean driving record should we wish to add a driver to our insurance
  • Police check
