We are currently seeking a Laundry Supervisor for our Laundry Department who has a passion for excellence to lead our Laundry team. Reporting directly to the Executive Housekeeper, this position is responsible for supervising and assisting the Laundry operations associates in their daily responsibilities and assuring that all Rooms and F&B linen, guest clothing, and employee uniforms are cleaned on a timely basis and in a cost-efficient manner.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Assist the Executive Housekeeper with hiring, training, scheduling ,evaluating, coaching, and motivating employees.
- Train employees on all laundry procedures, including safety procedures and equipment operations.
- Order uniforms for employees according to departmental standards.
- Complete inventory of uniforms and linen.
- Report faculty material equipment, maintenance needs and safety hazards to Executive Housekeeper and Director of Engineering.
- Ensure found items are logged and secured. Handle guest inquiries and supervise lost and found procedures.
- Able to schedule staff in line with business demands and prepare work schedules within budget and business expectations.
- Conduct regular team meetings to ensure all associates are informed of relevant information in timely manner.
- Respond to guest inquiries and concerns and offer solutions.
- Must adhere to the appearance and grooming policy.
- Prepare weekly departmental schedule.
- Compliance with all safety regulations of assigned tasks, and ensure a clean and safe working environment with active participation in the health and safety program.
- Serve as a role model to the laundry team by demonstrating appropriate Marriott service standard behaviours.
- Perform other duties/tasks and projects as assigned.
Requirements:
- Minimum of 2 years of Laundry experience, preferably in a hospitality setting.
- Knowledge of a union environment considered an asset.
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft applications.
- Ability to think independently, possess good judgment, proven problem-solving skills and effective decision-making skills
- Ability to provide clear and meaningful instruction, guidance and counseling to team members
- Must be able to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends and holidays.
- Required to move, lift, carry, pull and place objects weighing less than or equal to 50 pounds without assistance.
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
