Job Title: Organic Chemist

Terms of Employment: Permanent, Full-time

Hours: 37.5 hours per week

Salary: $45,000 ~ $65,000 per year

Location of Work: Niagara Falls, ON

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Design and synthesis of new drug and generic drugs, mostly in multi-step organic synthesis, purification and characterization
  • Perform independent research in a multi-disciplinary environment on complex issues
  • Actively involved in synthetic process research and development by planning and executing experiments in R&D laboratories, collecting and analyzing data, preparing reports
  • Identify innovative synthetic routes and processes
  • Conduct peer review of experimental records and reports on process development
  • Perform troubleshooting on multiple analytical instruments (HPLC, GC, GC/MS) and interpretation and record of data
  • Follow safe laboratory practices

 

 

Qualifications

  • Masters or Ph.D. degree in Organic/Bioorganic/Polymer Chemistry is required
  • Sound knowledge of organic chemistry reactions, mechanisms, and multi-step synthesis
  • Hands on experience in developing multi-step syntheses for complex molecules
  • Advanced knowledge of modern analytical techniques (NMR, HPLC, MC) and structure elucidation
  • Must demonstrate awareness of safety practices required for working with hazardous chemicals
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work efficiently and productively in a highly dynamic team environment
  • Effective problem-solving skills
  • Preference for application will be given to veterans, to Canadian citizens, and to permanent resident, in that order
