Program Coordinator, Group Fitness and Pre-Choreography

YMCA Health, Fitness and Aquatics branches- Niagara Region

Minimum Hiring Rate: $19.70/hr plus YMCA membership benefits

Part time contract (1 year) – 20 hours per week

Availability Required: Days, evenings and weekends

 

NATURE AND SCOPE:

  • The Program Coordinator Group Fitness is responsible for the development and implementation of Group Fitness and Pre-Choreography fitness programs throughout all Health, Fitness and Aquatic Centres.
  • The incumbent will implement and support specific programs for a predetermined amount of time. These programs may change and evolve over time.
  • The incumbent will also be responsible for direct Group Fitness program delivery for a portion of their time.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Degree in Kinesiology, Physical Education, or related field.
  • Health and Fitness expertise including a strong knowledge of the Fitness Industry.
  • 2 or more years management experience in the Health and Fitness industry (YMCA experience an asset, but not required).
  • 3 or more years practical experience in the Health and Fitness industry (delivering Group Fitness classes, working with clients, Personal Training, etc.)
  • Certification in Group Fitness (Cardio, Strength, Cyclefit, Aquafit and Yoga) and Individual Conditioning/Personal Training.
  • Certification in Group Power or training in YMCA Barre is an asset and will be required.
  • YMCA Canada Fitness Trainer certification is an asset.
  • Current Standard 1st Aid/CPR(C) from an approved agency.
  • Current Criminal Reference Check with Vulnerable Sector Search (within 1 year of issue) will be required upon hire.
  • Reliable transportation for travel throughout the Niagara Region.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provider regional oversight and expertise in the areas of Group Fitness, learn to programs or groups, pre-choreography programs and other areas as required.
  • Implement actions plans focused on specific projects or fitness offerings to enhance Health and Fitness programming in all Centres.
  • Provide leadership for program development, implementation and monitoring.
  • Role model excellent program delivery and expertise in the area of Group Fitness.
  • Provide leadership for fitness workshops 2 to 3 times per year.
  • Develop and implement a volunteer recruitment, engagement and retention strategy to allow for the expansion of pre-choreography fitness programs.
  • Maintain ongoing communication with Fitness Program Coordinators and Centre Managers.
  • Develop and implement measurement tools, stats and tracking systems.
  • Work as part of a team to implement an adult focused fitness sales and retention strategy.
    • Provide expertise related to scheduling of Group Fitness and Pre-Choreography fitness programs.
    • Demonstrate sound time management and organizational skills.
    • Provide training, coaching and ongoing support for Coordinators, Group Fitness Instructors and Pre-Choreography Fitness Leaders.
    • Develop tools and resources for Fitness Instructors, Leaders and Coordinators that promote consistency and quality in fitness program offerings.
    • Provide support and ensure high quality programming to health and fitness programs operating out of multiple locations.
    • Monitor commitment to service excellence by role modelling and maintaining YMCA SAM 2.1 standards.
    • Maintain strong knowledge of Fitness Centre member acquisition, retention and engagement strategies and the role Group Fitness can play.
    • Understand and support YMCA philanthropic initiatives.
    • Assist with delivering the YMCA National Fitness Leader program as required.
    • Assist with delivery of Group Fitness and Pre-Chorography Fitness programming as required at a variety of locations.
    • Work as part of a team to promote the use of technology for fitness tracking, monitoring and member engagement.
    • Develop and maintain strong relationships with community partners and service providers.
    • Participate in training and adhere to the YMCA Child Protection Policies and Procedures as established by the YMCA of Niagara
    • Maintain SAM 2.1 Standards
    • Other duties as required
