Job Description

Position Summary:

Reporting to the Specialty Products Manager, the Quality Engineer – Welded Tube Niagara Division is responsible for performing activities that will lead to development of robust systems that will help to prevent quality problems. This may include but is not limited to development and operation of Quality Management Systems, application and analysis of testing and inspection activities, the use of metrology and statistical methods to diagnose and correct improper quality control and quality assurance practices and the auditing of Quality Management Systems for deficiency identification and correction.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Assisting with the development, implementation and modification of Quality Management Systems
  • Identifying Quality Improvement initiatives through the analysis of data and facilitating related implementation teams or implementing initiatives that do not require a team approach
  • Establishing and monitoring process and equipment capabilities, including the use of statistical process control techniques
  • Filling the role of alternate Lead Auditor for the facilities within the Niagara Division
  • Providing high level and general QMS training
  • Preparing reports from collected, analysed and summarized data and making recommendations
  • Assisting with facilitation of Corrective and Preventive Action Teams
  • Developing sampling plans by applying attribute, variable or sequential methods as appropriate
  • Developing and maintaining Process FMEAs
  • Performing MSA/GR&R activities
  • Adhering to and complying with all applicable company policies and procedures
  • Performing other duties as assigned for which he/she has received training, possess qualifications and/or is considered competent

Job Specifications:

Educational and Experience Requirements for this position:

  • CQE designation through the American Society for Quality (ASQ) or equivalent (training and/or experience in the CQE Body of Knowledge)
  • CQA designation or a minimum of Lead Auditor certificate from a recognized provider, along with pertinent experience
  • Minimum of an Engineering Technician Diploma in the discipline of Industrial, Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering
  • A minimum of 5 years related work experience
  • Proven experience in project management , including an ability to facilitate the successful conclusion of a large project
  • Strong computer skills in Excel, Word, etc.
  • Proven report writing ability
  • Satisfactory criminal reference check in accordance with the Welded Tube of Canada policy
