Full-Time Truck and Coach Mechanic (1 Position)

Job Description

  • Inspect, service, maintain and repair engines, transmissions, transaxles, and differentials, fuel injected and carbureted fuel systems and related emission components, machine brake systems and components and electrical circuits
  • Install emergency lighting, sound equipment and install additional accessories as required perform inspection and repair of heavy-duty truck, and light and heavy off road equipment suspensions and components, hydraulic systems and components
  • Diagnosis and repair of equipment’s on board computer management systems
  • Ability to operate Heavy Truck and equipment
  • Work safely in compliance with safe work practices in keeping with the Occupational Health and Safety Act, corporate policy, procedures and applicable legislation
  • Perform all duties applying customer service techniques in support of departmental objectives
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Skills/Education Required

  • Secondary School Diploma
  • Possess and maintain a 310T and a 310S Truck and Coach Technician Licence
  • Minimum 5 years of related progressive experience as an automotive or heavy-duty truck or equipment mechanic
  • Ability to obtain Emission Control Licence, Propane Licence, or other Licence, as may be required in performance of job functions
  • Working knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act, WHMIS and safe work practices in a mechanic-shop environment
  • Must have legible and accurate writing ability
  • Ability to make sound decisions in a manner consistent with the essential job functions
  • Ability to work independently or as an effective member of a team
  • Effective oral communication and strong interpersonal skills to deal with members of the public, council and all levels of staff
  • Ability to demonstrate initiative consistently with commitment to quality improvement, sharing process improvement initiatives with management
  • Demonstrated time-management skills with the ability to prioritize workloads and meet deadlines
  • Possess and maintain a valid Ontario Class “D” Driver’s Licence with “Z” endorsement and acceptable driving record
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office, the internet, and any other related software
  • Upon a conditional offer of employment, a Criminal Record Check will be required

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $28.00 to $38.00 /hour
