Full-Time Director of Project Management

Opportunity:

Reporting directly to the President, the incumbent will be responsible for taking on a leadership role as the Director of Project Management.  As part of the leadership team, there is a great opportunity to champion the organization’s culture and the people who form the team.

 

Responsibilities:

 

Safety

  • Ensure Project Management (PM) teams keep safety top of mind and utilize appropriate safety methods
  • Review any unique safety measures being taken on a project due to size, scope, etc.

 

Quotations and Contract Management

  • Address in an appropriate manner any inability communicated by a member of PM team, to respond to tenders or other opportunities
  • Review CCDC contracts information prior to submission to the client
  • Ensure any quotations over a value of $100,0000 are reviewed prior to submission to the client
  • Ensure submitted quotations are followed up on in a timely manner

 

Resource Management

  • Review proposed subcontractors and suppliers to be utilized
  • Maintain a relationship with key subcontractors and suppliers
  • Oversee scheduling of field resources (manpower, equipment, vehicles)
  • Ensure appropriate forecasting of projects and necessary resources is completed on a regular basis
  • Address any concerns relative to field crew capacity and skill set concerns

 

Contract Fulfillment

  • Review all contracts related to a project; ensure a suitable contract is in place for any new client
  • Ensure Project Start-up Meetings are consistently being done by all project teams
  • Participate in Project Start-up Meetings on occasion and provide appropriate feedback to the Project Management team
  • Review project operations on a weekly basis

Client Relations & Retention    

  • Allocate client/project opportunities to the Project Managers
  • Oversee PM communication with client base; ensuring Project Managers are maintaining an appropriate level of contact with past, present and prospective clients
  • Participate in client sales calls; provide coaching as necessary
  • Maintain a client database outlining: key contact information, purchasing notes, other contactors being used by the client, etc.
  • Maintain a relationship with key clients and prospects
  • Know and understand our competitors in each sector and at each client site
  • Review post project survey results and ensure client concerns brought forth are addressed in a timely manner

 

 

 

Project Management Development and Profitability

  • Work with the Director of Finance to ensure Project Management teams have the necessary financial data for effective decision-making
  • Standardize project related procedures (from quoting to closeout), appropriately communicate, and ensure PM teams are following standard operating procedures
  • Work directly with Project Facilitators transitioning to a Project Management role
  • Oversee approval of all Project Management cost allocation to overhead
  • Schedule and oversee post-mortems on projects to determine best practices; hold Project Management teams accountable for financial results
  • Mentor Lead Hands, General Foremen and Project Managers through one-on-ones, ride-alongs, and ongoing communication

 

Capabilities and Credentials:

  • 10+ years of successfully Project Managing ICI projects within the construction industry
  • Passion for change management
  • Knowledge of construction regulations in Canada
  • Be legally able to work in Canada
