ADL (Activity of Daily Living) Assistant

Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and energetic Activity of Daily Living Assistant to join our team in providing engaging and meaningful activities for our residents. The ideal candidate will have experience working with individuals with disabilities. This role is vital in enhancing residents’ quality of life through creative and supportive activities, fostering social interaction, and promoting overall well-being.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, and facilitate life skills, and personal activities tailored to residents’ interests and abilities
• Work with residents to identify and set goals to enhance quality of life, and promote independence
• Assist residents during activities, ensuring their safety and engagement at all times
• Collaborate with care staff to coordinate activity schedules that complement residents’ care plans
• Encourage participation from residents with diverse needs, including those with cognitive and/or mobility challenges
• Maintain a safe and clean activity environment, adhering to all safety protocols
• Document residents’ participation and responses to activities for ongoing care planning
• Foster a positive, inclusive atmosphere that promotes socialization and emotional well-being

Requirements

• A degree or diploma in Human Services (Recreation, Social Worker, Education Assistant Program)
• Prior experience working with people with disabilities is highly desirable
• Strong communication skills to effectively interact with residents, families, and staff
• French is an asset
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a dynamic setting
• Flexibility to adapt activities based on residents’ changing needs and interests
• Valid First Aid, CPR Certificate and recent WHMIS training
• Valid Ontario drivers’ license, clean driving record, access to an insured vehicle, and the candidate must be willing to drive the Tanguay Place Van

Compensation

• $20.73/hr plus 12% in lieu of benefits or join the benefit group (option available)

Hours

• 24-40 hours per week
