Children’s & Youth Services Associate (part-time)
The Welland Public Library is seeking a Children’s & Youth Services Associate (part-time). Reporting to the Manager of Programming & Outreach, the Children’s & Youth Services Associate (part-time) provides circulation, information, reference, and reader’s advisory services to customers using a variety of resources including print materials, electronic information, and integrated library software. This position also organizes and delivers programs for children and youth, facilitates class visits, and performs outreach duties as assigned.
Position Requirements:
- Successful completion of two (2) year Library Technician’s or Early Childhood Education (ECE) Diploma program or comparable education degree program. Completion of MLIS or Bachelor’s Degree in education an asset.
- One (1) year related experience providing children’s programming in a library setting, with a focus on public service or children’s services is an asset.
- Proficient in relevant software applications (Officer 365).
- Excellent communication skills with a demonstrated ability to interact effectively with other staff and members of the public.
- Ability to problem-solve in an effective manner; ability to use sound judgement when dealing with patrons.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Requirement for shift work, including evenings and weekends.
- Working knowledge of the French Language is an asset.
- Access to valid transportation required.
The rate of pay for this position is $22.62 – $27.12
