Temporary Digital Service Squad Team Member (1 Position)

Job Description

THIS IS A TEMPORARY POSITION FOR APPROXIMATELY SIX MONTHS

Summary:
The successful candidate will support the Digital Service Squad Program Coordinator, represent the St. Catharines Economic Development Office and provide digital media/digital marketing support for participating Business Improvement Areas (BIAs) and business associations in St Catharines for its Digital Main Street (DMS) initiative.

Duties include:

• Provide support to the Digital Service Squad Program Coordinator with participating main street businesses across BIAs and business associations in St Catharines to provide one-on-one consultations and digital assessments to business owners.
• Act as an ambassador for the Digital Main Street program while explaining the value of the program to participating businesses.
• Review the digital roadmap of a business; provide guidance, resources and recommendations on how businesses may progress digitally.
• Walk-through the on-boarding survey with business owners and use appreciative inquiry methods to best understand their business goals and how digital tools/technology can assist in meeting these goals.
• Communicate with business owners and clarify needs and on-boarding them to the Digital Main Street platform.
• Perform the digital assessment and identify priority areas for business owners where they can use digital tools and technologies to improve their business.
• Attend training, workshops and events related to Digital Main Streets.
• Activate and implement free, easy-to-use digital tools and technologies that support main street businesses.
• Provide training, articles, links, and how-to guides available through secondary sources to assist business owners.
• Attend Economic Development Team Meetings as set out by the Director of Economic Development & Tourism Services.
• Perform other similar and related duties, as required.

 

Position Requirements:
• Enrolled in full-time studies, or recently completed a College Diploma in a related field.
• One (1) year experience in a sales or marketing environment.
• Previous experience with online and offline marketing is considered a strong asset.
• Previous experience working with small businesses in BIAs is considered an asset.
• Experience with digital technologies for small business (website, social media, e-commerce, etc.).
• Effective time management skills with the ability to prioritize and organize work to meet deadlines.
• Professional, proven customer service skills, well developed interpersonal, and communication skills.
• Strong computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, email and online collaboration software.
• Ability to travel and work independently in various BIA’s and other business locations in Niagara.
• Valid Ontario Driver’s license, Class “G”, with a clean driving record.
• A demonstrated commitment to enhancing a safety culture.

Hourly Rate: $18.00 per hour
Hours of Work: Monday through Friday, 8:30AM – 4:30PM
