Seasonal Dock Hand

Job Description

You float my boat! The Dock Hand is the go-to guy/gal for our Captains and Trip Leaders. They assist with gear, passenger loading and all things jet boat maintenance – getting to enjoy all the action from the comfort of our jet boat docks. If you’re a stickler for organization & cleanliness, and love meeting new people, then this is the perfect job for you. The ability to hype up a crowd before their tour is considered an asset.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Safely load and unload passengers onto boats; physical assistance is required
  • Assist Captain with daily mechanical maintenance and duties as requested; bail water from airtight holding containers
  • Assist with daily cleaning of vessels and river gear
  • Handing out of passenger gear to guests
  • General tidiness and cleaning of change rooms, grounds, parking lot, buildings, power-wash decking, garbage removal
  • Ensure upkeep and inventory of all river related equipment including boat microphones, bilge pumps, ropes on dock and vessels, and passenger gear.

 

Ideal Candidate would have or acquire:

  • (2+ years) Customer service or guest-facing experience
  • All ages welcome
  • Fluency in other languages is also an asset

 

Most of our positions are seasonal, beginning in late April-May and finishing around Halloween. But our staff love it so much, they come back every summer!

 

Whirlpool Jet Boat Tours has been giving passengers a taste of adventure on the white water of the Niagara River since 1992. Passengers experience a thrilling and educational one-hour guided tour, where they can take in the awe-inspiring scenery of the Niagara Gorge, feel the rush of the Class 5 Devil’s Hole rapids and marvel at the power of the Niagara Whirlpool. The tour company’s fleet of custom-built jet boats depart from locations on the Canadian and American sides of the Niagara River, including Queenston, ON and Lewiston, NY.
