Full-Time Employment Counsellor
Job Description
Job Gym, the Employment Services Division of the John Howard Society of Niagara is searching for an Employment Counsellor. This position will be primarily located in either Fort Erie or the Welland areas. This position may be shifted to other locations in accordance with needs. The purpose of this position is to complete client needs assessments, individually or in group sessions, and assist clients in establishing realistic short and/or long term plans of action with respect to meeting their employment / vocational needs. You will have:
- Demonstrated knowledge of assessment / counselling skills and techniques, case management and documentation, interpersonal and empathetic interview strategies, community agencies, services and resources, intervention techniques and crisis management skills and excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to facilitate group workshops on employment related topics
- Successfully completed post secondary studies, either a degree or diploma, or equivalencies
- A minimum of six months to one year related work experience, however two years related work experience is preferred
- A demonstrated ability to consistently meet established targets in a target-driven work environment
- An ability to operate word process software, Internet, e-mail and desktop publishing applications

Reliable transportation and insurance as travel between sites is a requirement of the position
Salary Range: $45,318.60 -$51,897.55
