Job Description

Job Gym is currently supporting the Holiday Inn Express in Welland to recruit Executive Housekeeper candidates!  This property is currently under construction and scheduled to open in late spring.

You have knowledge of basic sanitation requirements/controls and applications of relevant chemicals and of policies applicable to housekeeping, especially those relating to the safety and security of our guests, employees, and hotel property.

 

You must have the ability to communicate in English and have a self-starting personality with an even disposition. You will be required to always maintain a professional appearance and manner by always wearing a provided uniform and nametag on property. You can manage working relationships with the guests, the staff, the vendors, and the contractors of the hotel.

 

Reporting to the General Manager your job duties and responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

 

  • Interview, hire, train, recommend performance evaluations, resolve problems, provide open communication, and recommend discipline and/or termination when appropriate.
  • Provide clear direction in assigning and instructing housekeeping, laundry staff and breakfast team in details of work.
  • Plan, organize, and monitor staff activities to ensure compliance with quality assurance standards set by the hotel, which requires continuous visual inspection of guest rooms and public space areas including restaurants, lounges, meeting rooms, etc.
  • Manage finances of housekeeping, laundry and breakfast operations including budget and inventory controls. Analyze data and compile reports on expenditures, wages, labor, supplies, etc. in relation to hotel financial forecasts and budget. Establish and maintain adequate supplies for the efficient operation of the departments.
  • Distribute and delegate workload to guarantee maximum production and guest satisfaction with the minimum outlay of expenses in terms of labor and materials. Monitor house count and make staffing adjustments accordingly.
  • Ensure proper usage of chemicals and cleaning supplies by monitoring usage, providing complete training for employees, and ensuring proper labeling of hazardous supplies in accordance with the hotel hazard communication program. Certified WHMIS.
  • Plan and conduct staff meetings. Attend various other related meetings to obtain and disseminate pertinent information.
  • Evaluate the condition of furniture, fixtures, decor, etc. Make recommendations and assist in the coordination of rehab projects.
  • Communicate both verbally and in writing to provide clear direction to staff.
  • Comply with attendance rules and be available to work on a regular basis.
  • Perform any other job-related duties as assigned.

 

This position requires you to be on your feet for several hours throughout the day. You can stand, walk, bend, reach and move continuously to inspect rooms on all floors of the hotel while monitoring the housekeeping team.

 

Experience Required

  • 1 – 2 years in an executive housekeeping role
  • Ability to supervise and lead a team
  • Brand hotel knowledge and experience is preferred
