Job Description

Industrial Mechanic – PERMANENT – day shift – up to $39/hr to start dep. on experience

QUALIFICATIONS

* At least 2 years of maintenance experience working in a production / manufacturing environment
* Minimum Grade 12 Diploma or equivalent
* Any related education / certifications an asset (Millwright license, Mechanic license, Mechanical Engineering Technician Diploma, etc.
* Good knowledge of mechanical, electrical, PLC, hydraulic and pneumatic principles, automated equipment
* Strong mechanical and technical understanding
* Good troubleshooting skills and ability to deal with unexpected production floor changes / issues
* Strong attention to detail
* Basic electrical experience
* Excellent communication skills both written and oral
* Able to build and maintain positive relationships with vendors
* Able to adhere to safety rules and regulations
* Self motivated and able to work as part of a team
* Good attendance record
* Working knowledge of MS Office, CMMS
* Experience using a CMMS or Project Management software an asset
* Able to lift up to 50 lbs repetitively
* Able to adapt to various in-plant conditions (noise, temperature)
* Willing to wear PPE – Personal Protective Equipment (hairnet, ear plugs, safety glasses, safety boots/shoes)
* Be flexible to work other shifts if necessary (afternoon shift, night shift, weekend overtime)

DUTIES:

* Ensure operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventative maintenance requirements on motors, conveyor systems, and production machinery
* Locate sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation; listening for problems; using precision measurement and testing instruments
* Control downtime by informing production workers of routine maintenance techniques; monitoring compliance
* Fabricate repair parts by using machine shop instrumentation and equipment
* Work to improve machine efficiency, reduce scrap, and improve quality of product / processes
* Assemble and align gears, bearings and shafts
* Maintain effective equipment maintenance schedules and records on company equipment and tools
* Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations
* Procure parts for necessary repairs and adjustments
* Management of parts inventory
* Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed
* Oversee and act as a mentor to two mechanical team members
* Perform various other maintenance functions as assigned
