Full-Time Maintenance Mechanic – TPM Line Owner (Multiple Positions)

A food manufacturing company is looking for skilled labourers to join their team.

Job Responsibilities:

  • The primary purpose is to install, repair and maintain machinery in the plant.  This position     requires competency with robotics, pumps, presses and material-handling systems.
  • To drive and own the TPM process for the assigned bakery and across the plant
  • To maintain, troubleshoot and repair manufacturing equipment and share knowledge of applicable mechanical concepts and principles with other maintenance personnel.
  • To respond quickly to any calls from production to keep equipment operational and ensure production runs smoothly.
  • To make sure all food safety standards are followed.
  • Perform preventative maintenance tasks as scheduled and report results
  • Perform special projects from time to time as assigned in a cost effective and timely manner.
  • Communicate effectively with outside vendors and equipment manufacturers.
  • To work in a safe and efficient manner
  • The Maintenance Lead is the Preventative Maintenance systems owner for the Line. He / She is responsible for eliminating maintenance and breakdown related losses. The Maintenance Lead is responsible for building capability in Operating Teams and Equipment Owners to deliver overall results supporting the Critical Business Driver (CBD).
  • Owns the PM systems for the line, focusing on Defect Handling and Breakdown Elimination, and later Maintenance Planning and Scheduling
  • Supports and leads portions of loss-elimination planning.
  • Drives breakthrough results in Planned and Unplanned Downtime, and owns:
  • Maintenance & Repair costs for the line
  • % Planned Maintenance and % PM’s complete
  • Breakdown reduction
  • Coaches and develops Shift Teams by serving as a technical coach / resource.
  • Actively participates in trio Daily Line Meetings and execution of the daily action plan
  • Training provided after hire

Job Requirements:

  • Basic knowledge in welding, machining, electrical, hydraulics, pneumatics, drafting, and blueprint reading.
  • 3 – 5 years of related experience in a food manufacturing facility would be considered an asset.
  • High School Graduate or equivalent
  • Industrial Millwright Certificate

Work Conditions:

  • Obey and observe all safety rules, GMP rules, & Food Safety Procedures.
  • Keep work area clean & orderly.
  • Team work is an essential part of this position.
  • Variable environment. Will be required to work around flour and cinnamon and other bakery ingredients as part of their daily activities.
  • The successful candidate may be required to work weekends.
  • Frequent exposure to moving equipment and moving mechanical parts.
  • The level of noise in the work environment fluctuates based on the process and hearing production is required.
  • May be required to work on protected work stands and platforms up to 60” high
  • Must be able to perform various physical skills associated with the trade.
  • Daily activities include walking, standing, reaching, twisting, stooping, grasping and working ear noisy equipment, fryers and occasionally working in the freezer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 22 kg (50 lbs.)

Wage: $35.91/hr
