Job Description

The Niagara Peninsula Conservation Authority (NPCA) is a community-based natural resource management agency that works to protect, enhance, and sustain healthy watersheds. With 60 years of experience, the NPCA offers watershed programs and services that focus on flood and hazard management, source water protection, species protection, ecosystem restoration, community stewardship, and land management.

 

The NPCA is one of 36 Conservation Authorities in the Province of Ontario. With 41 Conservation Areas within the Niagara Peninsula watershed, the NPCA manages lands that are held in public trust for recreation, heritage preservation, conservation, and education. These natural and shared greenspaces marry nature, culture and adventure to create limitless opportunities for discovery.

Summary of Duties

 

Under the general supervision of the Area Superintendent, the Park Maintenance Technician is responsible for assisting in the day-to-day maintenance and operation of conservation areas and facilities as well as for the operation and maintenance of equipment and vehicles.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assists in the maintenance and repairs to Conservation Area trails and facilities
  • Maintains and services Conservation Area grounds including landscaping, building maintenance and repairs
  • Performs inspections of park buildings, utilities, and equipment for required maintenance and park standards
  • Assists in capital and operational projects including set up and cleanup of special events

Qualifications

 

  • Minimum 1 year experience in the operation and maintenance of recreational parks
  • Working knowledge of electrical, plumbing or building maintenance and repairs (skilled trade experience an asset)
  • Ability to safely operate various power tools and equipment
  • Valid G-class Driver’s License

 

 

Location: Various Conservation Areas within the watershed

 

Salary Range:   $23.40 – $26.00 /hr (37.5 hours/week – Union Grade 1 – 2021 rate)
