Full-Time Parts Worker

Job Description

VRE Systems is a manufacturing company providing products and services to the retail garden centre, horticultural, greenhouse and agricultural industries. We manufacture products such as various types of curtain systems, roll up walls, monorail systems, fabrics, transportation carts, as well as food and pharmaceutical products.

We are currently seeking a Parts Worker to join our team. The purpose of this role is to accurately organize and control the parts department, as well as count, package and label parts while maintaining a clean, organized work area.  Responsibilities include assisting coworkers and following all company health and safety regulations.  A strong work ethic, organizational skills and attention to detail are essential.

Duties:

  • Maintain sufficient inventory of all components and parts
  • Liaise with Purchasing, Operations Analyst, and other departments as required for the purpose of production and schedules/timeline
  • Keep clear, concise and thorough records of all parts shipped and received
  • Read and understand the VRE Shade and B/O Parts List and accurately count, package and label parts
  • Wire electric drive motors in preparation for CSA certification following VRE schematics
  • Build corresponding gear boxes
  • Assemble small parts and maintain appropriate ‘build to’ quantities
  • Ensure that all parts taken have appropriate paperwork and can be accounted for
  • Customer service; inquiries, orders and conflict resolution
  • Adhere to all VRE Standard Operating Procedures and ensure highest quality
  • Follow all quality control procedures to meet quality objectives
  • Complete all assigned tasks in a timely and efficient manner
  • Maintain all machinery and tools according to Equipment User Guides
  • Be able to troubleshoot and decide appropriate action if discrepancies occur
  • Assist other team members and any other VRE department as requested
  • Report any problems with equipment or inventory to the Plant Manager
  • Ensure regulated and proper headgear, ear plugs, gloves, safety glasses and clothing are worn
  • Work in compliance with all Health and Safety, Workplace and WHMIS regulations
  • Duties and responsibilities may be amended from time to time in order to support efficient company operations

Job Requirements

  • Post-secondary education in Electronic Technician is an asset
  • 1+ years of experience in similar capacity; experience within the manufacturing setting
  • Or any equivalent combination of education and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the key responsibilities of the position
  • Have basic mathematical and computer skills
  • Possess in-depth electrical knowledge and skill (motors and circuits)
  • Ability to safely operate a variety of tools (drills, grinders, saws, weight counter)
  • Have a strong understanding of both Imperial and Metric measurements
  • Ability to deal with team members/customers sensitively, tactfully, diplomatically and professionally at all times
  • Strong time management skills within a changing environment

Work Conditions

  • Heavy lifting on a daily basis – up to 40lbs
  • Extended periods of sitting/standing
  • Interaction with team members and all levels of management
  • Working in a loud, busy production environment with frequent interruptions
  • Occasional overtime
