Job Description

Job Gym is currently assisting the Fort Erie Multicultural Centre in recruiting for a Settlement Worker-Community Services candidate. Able to work remotely and in office when safe to do so, this is a full-time position (30 hours per week). Pay range is between $18 to $23 per hour. Looking for a candidate with fluency in English, Spanish and French. The role includes working with individuals and families from culturally diverse groups, both new and long-term immigrants. Employee and client safety is the organization’s top priority so safe distancing and sanitizing procedures are in place.

The Fort Erie Multicultural Centre specializes in assisting newcomers to settle in Canada and in this role, involvement with some of these key activities:

  • Develop and Implement life skills workshops
  • Assess client’s relevant skill strengths and development needs
  • Conduct follow-up assessments
  • Maintain program statistics for purposes of evaluation and research
  • Screen, recruit and train volunteers as required
  • Develop, co-ordinate and implement outreach services in the community
  • Liaise with social service agencies and health care providers involved with clients
  • Participate in promotional activities

 

The ideal candidate will have initiative, effective interpersonal skills, and be flexible. Must be a team player, have excellent oral and written communication skills, have a client focus, be non-judgmental and able to work in a collaborative environment. Post-secondary training in a social science discipline and / or 3 to 5 years relevant experience is required.

  • First Aid and Mental Health First Aid Certificates
