POSITION TITLE: Temp Part Time Educational Facilitator
RATE OF PAY: $14.50 / hour
HOURS OF WORK: Up to 15 hours/week, Non-Union, temp., 16 week – Grant Position
RESPONSIBLE TO: Manager of Community & Family Support
GRANT REQUIREMENT: Youth between 13 and 30 years of age
Canadian Citizen
PURPOSE OF POSITION: to provide 1:1 educational support for children/adults with intellectual disabilities. This results in enhancing and learning new skills.
The 1:1 educational Facilitator will demonstrate a positive approach when supporting and actively engaging people and be active participants in individualized educational related goals/activities while following social distancing protocols.
STATEMENT OF MAJOR RESPONSIBILITY:
- Assist with virtual learning or on site learning
- Participate as a member of a team
- Work with schools/parents to make necessary plans and modifications to curriculum to ensure successful learning following individual IEP’s and TAY related goals
- Assist supported person to achieve personal educational goals – i.e. obtain diploma/ driver’s license etc.
- Be flexible and creative
- Provide ongoing communication between school and parents
- Update participants individual profiles/goals with children and families
- To coordinate participant monthly schedules
- To organize all information/materials needed to run the program
- To ensure all Covid-19 protocols are in place
- Actively provide direct care by assisting, guiding, counseling and supporting each participant in meeting their personal educational goal.
- Demonstrate a positive approach during all interactions to ensure appropriate role modeling.
- Perform other related duties as required.
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:
- Must have a strong belief in Community Living – Fort Erie’s vision, as well as a strong understanding of Personal Outcome Measures and of the Agency’s Human Rights Statement.
- Must possess good organizational and communication skills, both verbal and written. Must possess time management skills, and ensure any required paperwork is submitted by deadlines.
- Must have a professional and personable attitude in order to approach other professionals.
- Must possess basic computer skills.
- Ability to be flexible and be able to prioritize as need arises.
- Must be fluent in English language-oral and written
QUALIFICATION CRITERIA:
APPLICANTS MUST BE A CANADIAN CITIZEN BETWEEN THE AGES OF 15-30.
- Experience working with children/adults that have Intellectual challenges an asset.
- Valid First Aid Certificate
- Valid Non Violent Crisis Intervention Certificate
- A current Niagara Regional Police Clearance Certificate with Vulnerable Sector clearance. Must have Community Living Fort Erie’s name specified. Must be dated within three months of hire.

- Valid Ontario Driver’s “G” license
- Valid Ontario drivers abstract.
- Current WHIMS Certificate
- Certificate of Worker Health & Safety Awareness in 4 Steps
Time Requirements: 16 weeks
Up to 15 hours per week Monday to Sunday
WAGE RATE:
$14.50 per hour
