New Job Posting Requirements: Effective January 1, 2026
Ontario has introduced new rules for publicly advertised job postings under the Employment Standards Act. These changes are designed to promote transparency and fairness in hiring.
If your organization has 25 or more employees, and you publicly advertise job openings, these rules may apply to you.
In brief, job postings must:
- Include the expected pay or pay range
- Disclose whether artificial intelligence (AI) is used in the hiring process
- Avoid requiring Canadian work experience
- State whether the posting represents a real, existing vacancy
- Provide interviewed candidates with a status update within a set timeframe

Great Lakes Biodiesel is opening a new Biodiesel Plant in Welland Ontario. As General Plant Manager, I have been working with the local Job Gym to hire staff for the plant.
